Dr. William D Altig, attended Kearney State College in Nebraska, and the University of Houston College of Optometry, where he also completed post-graduate studies in Ocular Therapeutics, and Glaucoma. Dr. Altig has been in private practice since 1985 in the Fort Worth area, and opened Altig Optical in 1992. He is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Texas Optometric Association. Dr. Altig, his wife Mary, and their son Andrew live in Newark, Texas. Their daughter Amanda goes to school at the University of Texas, Austin. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his family, traveling around the United States and watching the Nebraska Cornhuskers football team....

Dry eye syndrome (DES or dry eye) is a chronic lack of sufficient lubrication and moisture on the surface of the eye. Its consequences range from minor irritation to the inability to wear contact lenses and an increased risk of corneal inflammation and eye infections. Persistent dryness, scratchiness and a burning sensation on your eyes are common symptoms of dry eye syndrome.
